A Web Map Service (WMS) is a standard protocol for serving georeferenced map images over the Internet that are generated by a map server using data from a GIS database. RCMRD uses ArcGIS Server for creating and managing GIS Web services, applications, and data.

Features

The shared web map services allows client applications to access the contents of maps stored on RCMRD's server in much the same way that they would if the map was stored locally on their own computers.

Within ArcGIS Online, one can use these ArcGIS Server web services as layers for maps.
